The water polo movement has officially found another rising nation. Or,
being more precise, a former leading country is back to its glorious
days. The second match day of the men’s tournament at the London Games
was characterised by the drawn between Italy and Greece – that is to say, between the world reigning champions and those who missed the last two editions of the World Championships.

The Greeks have confirmed themselves as one of the toughest opponents
to face in the Olympics, after the 8-6 loss to Croatia in their debut.
In the clash against the Settebello,
the national team coached by Dragan Andrić took the lead three times in
as many circumstances and managed to force Italy to make mistakes when
it came to shoot, especially in one-man-up situations. Then, the Azzurri
seemed to finally control the match and win it, but the Greeks proved
to be dieharder and hit the post with centre-forward Giorgos Afroudakis
in the last minute. It would be the best trick to give to Alessandro
Campagna, Italy head coach and former Greece manager at the Athens Games
and at the 2005 and 2007 World Aquatics Championships. Read more:
